Propper technique for picking 1374 coded R70?

Postby Klaiviel » 10 Mar 2010 14:16

I have got a bunch of locks but none have given me close to the trouble I have had with this R70 it is coded at 1374 and it seems with SPP I just cannot set that fourth pin without disturbing the third. Also raking seems pretty pointless as I have taken the C-Rake to it with little success. I understand alot of tension is required as well for this particular lock. Does anyone have any advice as far as technique that might work?

My bad, I had assumed the number on the key was the code without inspecting it more carefully. I don't have the exact code but its like a 6272; would the W Rake still be the solution here?

If the 6272 is a high/low bitting then the W rake might be able to set it.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

i have found that a large diamond seems to work very well on the r70

A bogota will probably take care of it too. They go through many locks like a hot knife through butter. 8)

Use a slimline short hook. Proper tension is way more of a problem with the R70 than the actual picking part...

You know its funny you should say that actually; sure enough once my bogota's arrived from serepick I tried them in the R70 that had been giving me so much grief and sure enough opened right away lol.
