Hi Gang,
Does anyone know if this is a standard tubular lock or this a new type?
This is first time I've come across a tubular that looked quite like this one.
Any ideas on who makes it or the difficulties in picking it?
Thanks,
Test,

From this angle, it sure looks like a torx bolt to me.

OK, who stole the pins?
It's definitely not a std. Torx, but it could be some form of new security bolt...pentagonal Allen, tamper-proof Torx, five point Torx, Robertson, Tri-wing etc. have all been used before now to hinder unauthorised removal...sorta looks like a mag wheel locking bolt to me. If the fastener is not hardened (which it probably is), a few whacks - full-face - followed by hitting a pin punch directed counter-clockwise, on one of the flats should get things moving.
As far as picking goes, I'm thinking 'rotary'. Ti or Cobalt...
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

That looks like the new inverted 5 sided (instead of 6) tamper-proof torx head. My Snap-On guy was just trying to sell me a set of the new 5 sided bits for about $150. I guess they are used on some of the new diesel engines on injectors and quite possibly other items too. Not sure if that is that same thing or not but it is surely a bolt/fastener head.

Hey thanks guys,
I kinda thought it was a rotating head/bolt type fastener.
But looking at the center, I though it may be some kind of new spring loaded center pin that when pushed down enabled the head to twist.
Guess not.
I take it that once removed, it cannot be re-used because there is probably some kind of ring trap on the inside of that box.
It must be replaced with a new one.
Oh well.......
Thanks,
Test,

Nope, should be able to be reused. Tamper proof screws/bolts have heads made so "normal" tools cannot remove/loosen etc.

I gotta say that's the funniest thing I've read here until I read you were serious, then it was even funnier.
