May I get you your slippers and newspapers as well sir? If you can't figure out how to wet sand something, don't get into making your own picks just yet. It's like asking someone how to use a hacksaw to cut a metal pipe. You just do it. Start at something like 220, then move up to 400,600,800, and finish with 1000 grit wet paper. Rinse your paper often in a container of water, something like a plastic tupperware food container. When cutting up your paper into smaller squares that you can fold in half so you always have a smooth edge, make sure the back of the paper says what grit it is, so you don't have to guess when all 5 grits are floating around in your rinse container.
Here, watch Pyro's awesome video and do some more searching on this site, there are plenty of stickies and tutorials. No wet sanding in it but its a great video
