Hate to be both a beggar and a chooser, but any way to get slightly higher res versions as well? These are fantastic!

+1 (on both the "wow... that's fantastic!" sentiment, and the shameless request for higher-quality images, if you have them) :)

Hi Rickthepick, thanks for all the pics!

I dont know anything about British Standard but I noticed for the most part that the locks you listed as BS have a metal plate with the shape of the letter H cut into them and they look like they ride up and down. Can you explain its purpose or explain what are the requirements for a lock to be certified BS?

Thank You,
Squelchtone

cant get better pics most these locks are gone now, i never intended to show anyone else more for my own reference.

Bs locks now require: anti-drill plate, 2 inch bolt throw, anti saw bolt and general strength against brute attacks.

you will notice non bs ones have smaller bolts, non, or non-hardplate protection plates.

il get the rest posted soon.

Those plates are actually the levers Squelch. Instead of pivoting about a fulcrum they slide up and down.
Specification BS3621 was launched in the 1960’s to regulate security on domestic and commercial property. Many of the requirements still stand today having revised the BS3621 standard in 2004 to bring the specification up to date which included a change in bolt length from 14mm to 20mm.
BS3621: an insurance standard for locks, specifying, for example, the minimum number of differs, minimum 5 levers and that there is protection against drilling and sawing, and that the strike box is metal (equivalent to the European standard EN12209)

I started a similar file, but abandoned it when I got a big reference bookby Gray Ingliss. I think it actaully came from UKbumpkeys of all places, but it really is a great reference on site.

I used to use a much smaller Francis Locks ID book, and was constantly finding stuff which wasn't listed.

i decided to make my own as thought it would be a good exercise to get to know the locks... and it was
Its also good to know how some locks work; the henderson/santos for example, where the lever pack is riveted to the bolt and moves around a fixed stump. It would be confusing if you didnt know that and were trying to lever pick it
