Purchasing "BEST" / Medeco branded locks?

Looking to purchase a "BEST" branded lock (any lock, doesn't really matter..)

I found their site, but can't find a place to purchase them..

Anyone have any idea about these locks?

Also, where would I be able to find a Medeco lock in South Florida? (any hardware stores?)

Looking to start buying some harder locks to pick instead of these Walgreens / Home Depot locks

Your best bet would be to look at scrap metal places or talk nice to some locksmith who has old gear piled up and is ready to clean it out.

Actually your best bet, pun intended, would be to locate the regional locksmith supply house/distributor which supplies your area and place an order for whatever BEST ACCESS lock products you were looking for with them...

BEST ACCESS SYSTEMS won't deal directly with someone seeking to purchase individual cores or locks...

The same logic follows in your quest for a Medeco lock...

If the supplier won't sell directly to you for some reason then seek out a local locksmith shop and see if they would be willing to place and order for you... That would be more expensive though as you would probably be charged standard parts mark up on your order...

You can get practically any lock cheaply on ebay. Just search for "best lock," "best IC," best core," etc...

But you can not always get such locks with all of the parts and working keys... That is much less common...

I honestly don't think i would be very disappointed if the lock I was trying to pick didn't have a working key

ebay's your best bet, for medecos especially. otherwise i have some best padlocks i'd sell for 10 each, no keys though.

Yah, Oaklandish, I bet that those locks actually have working keys, its just the location of that key that is unknown.

Best Lock Corp is known for being secretive and proprietary. They don't deal with independent locksmiths. They sell exclusively to end users.

In smaller scale, like small-to-medium apartment complexes, factory manages the key system and claims copyright to it and the end user is given a control key, various master keys, change keys, and spare cores. If a key is lost, that core is put aside and a new random rotation core is put in place.

For larger scale (school districts, government agencies, hospital systems) with in house locksmiths, they supply in-house with management system, like system design tool, key control software, cutting equipment, blanks, etc.


Master, Falcon, Arrow, ESP, and other competitors offer SFIC based on A2 system though. They're no longer patented.
