Does anyone think I can find a small set that wont break/fall apart with little use?
I've been looking aroudn the site on other sites, all that I can afford HAVE to be payed over the net.

Wiper blades, files, sandpaper and some polymer clay. You could make your own for a few bucks total. Just a good number of hours getting them shaped up.

$5 pack of hacksaw blades, dumpster dive at Autozone for wiper blade inserts, and use some cheap sandpaper.

MO or COD are your only option for ordering and $20 is a rather tight budget.

I dont know what your Location is (*HINT HINT*)

But up here in Michigan you can find south ord lock picks at gun shows from time to time. You may want to check there. Or start making your own as others have suggested.

It's 2010 man, it's not that hard to go to paypal.com and set up and account. Then link it to your bank account or your ATM card's VISA/Mastercard number and start buying on the internets. Under 18? No bank account? Go to Walmart and buy a prepaid VISA/Mastercard and try to use that on a site or as your card in your Paypal account, but if the online store checks the billing address of customer credit cards, they may not match up and they may refuse the sale.

Lock picks are just not the kind of item you can walk into a local hardware store and buy for cash. Some cities have spy shops and they'll sell you a set for double or triple the price it would cost on the internet.

Suggestion, ask a trusted friend/family member if they could lend you their card to use over the net and pay them upfront, go round and do it while they stand there if they say yes and don't mind. You could even ask if they could do it for you, just write down what you want, write down codes/description(s) etc,

You don't know untill you ask.

I always see small lockpick sets at gunshows, southord and majestic. you could try that if your that desperate.

most of whatever i've spent are the hours of labor shaping wiper blade inserts, bicycle spokes and whatever other suitable materials.
i did purchase rai's bogota picks, but that's really the extent of what i've spent money wise.

if you're just starting into lockpicking.. it doesn't hurt to learn how locks work first and make your own picks to try and advance that knowledge.
it's a hobby that can suit even the smallest of budgets.

I was on vacation in Scarborough, Maine this weekend and stopped by a local New England army/navy store chain called Army Barracks to see if they had any surplus military padlocks or any other cool stuff. The Army Barracks by my house has mostly new stuff, and only a shelf of old surplus gear and clothing, so I had my doubts, but it appears that things are a little different in free wheelin Maine.

Walking up to the store, I was happy to see a big sign adertizing that they now sell Gun Ammo, and after talking to the employee and asking about military padlocks, he walked over to the glass case and said, all we have is this; and he handed me a Majestic brand lock pick set! It was $21.95 and I've always wanted a set of Majestic tools, so I bought it on the spot. (For those who don't know, Majestic has been making picks for several decades, much longer than all the recent companies we are familiar with, it's nice to finally own a set)

He was also selling Steve Hampton's picking book, but I passed on that. When I looked in the case, I couldn't find any other pick sets, so maybe they only had that one set and book. So in case you live in the area, call first, as they may be all sold out.

nothing better than a vacation in Maine eating fresh lobster and finding a shop with lock picks!
