New Locksmith

Postby uk locksmith » 16 Jun 2010 12:41

Hi im starting my own locksmith business, i have always been intrigued by lockpicking since i saw the MIT guide. Its now become a hobbie for me to the point of obsession. I practice most of the time and have invested in picking tools. I started picking but now have a brokage 15 gun. Its great with some locks but not so with others.

Does anybody know what locks it is good with and not?

Another question please, what advice would you give me to become the best at lockpicking?

Thank You for reading

Don't take this the wrong way.

Picking locks is less than 10% of a general locksmiths work, unless you're doing warrants or specifically targeting lockouts only (in which case your business wont last long).

A good business plan, around £15-20K investment (for the first year) and not expecting a living wage for at least 3 years is a start for being a locksmith in the UK.

And you still have to be lucky.

You may struggle, especially if you have to ask on a hobby site for advice.
It's all about the tension . . .
