Euro Style Lock Cylinders

Postby 0Gravity » 27 Apr 2010 1:42

Hi All,
I am just wondering if there is a good source to find some used/new Euro Style Lock Cylinders here in the U.S.A.? They look like they would be good "Practice" locks, and would be easier to carry them around then a bulky padlock! I tried doing an ebay search and came back with 0 results....also what would be a good price to pay for these? Can these style cylinders be disassembled for re-keying or tinkering? And lastly, what would be a good "Brand" or model that would have security pins in it? I think I am ready to start playing around with some security pinned locks.....MAYBE...LOL!

If you search 'profile cylinder' on ebay, you will find some matches.

Ilco makes one that is relatively inexpensive, you should be able to get that through most locksmiths, and I'm sure they may have other brands available to you.

You might want to check the lock section at a hardware store for stormdoor locks, a lot of them here use profile cylinders.

Thanks Guys, I will try these suggestions....You are right YNG I have anderson storm doors in my house and sure enough they have these style locks in them....I never noticed...lol, I bought the doors at home depot, so maybe they carry them or can order replacement locks for me! Just for kicks I removed one of the locks to look at it and they actually have allen screws in the top of the "Bible" for re-keying purposes which would be perfect!

You could also try to find someone on a european ebay site who ships to the US. Just ask!
For example you could search for:

"Profilzylinder" on http://www.ebay.de
"serrure" on http://hub.shop.ebay.fr
"profile cylinder" on http://www.ebay.co.uk

Good luck!

peace,
