squelchtone has a good point. Looking at that keyway , my first guess would have been Pfaffenhain (if there wasn't an Ikon logo on it). Pfaffenhain and BAB have few profiles that are similar. In the Silca catalogue page 26 , there is the BAB14 , that looks like it would pas the keyway.
Perhaps this keyway could be a from a central cylinder in a multiplex master key system. Where several key profiles would fit this keyway.

Good point weeerwolf about the sectional (is this the correct term for this example?) key profile that would fit into his keyway. BAB30R-10 on page 26 looks good too but the R may be for Reverse, and I think you want BAB30-10 instead but I don't see that in this catalog. Anyone else wanna chime in? Squelchtone

The R stands for Right hand keyway. There are a lot of R profiles from Silca , that don't have a normal version.
I think I have a list of BAB profiles at work. I'm going there tomorrow , I'll check it out. Might find something.

It looks pretty close to a Yale 999GG. Even If you do not find the exact sectional blank the master blank, Yale 998 could probably be used.

Man, that's pretty much spot on, how did you even find that? I'm amazed at how many keyways there are. What do you think of the Yale 999TG? (It seems at top of keyway one side is taller than the other in the OP's pic) http://www.kaba-ilco.com/key_systems/key_download.aspx?File=key_blank_directory_catalog_60_2004_cylinder_k_to_z.pdf&Attachment=TrueBasic question here... does the silhouette in the catalogs show the keyway or the end of the blank if you were looking at it while holding it in your hand? Thanks! Squelchtone

The silhouette shows the blank. If you put the tip of the key on the silhouette, it matches or doesn´t.

so...... the silhouette is just like looking at a lock mounted on a door? or is it the mirror of it? they should really make this clear in the catalogs with an example page. for us.. uninitiated

Sorry, I should have called it keyway. You put the blank on the catalogue just like you would insert it to a lock. When I´m looking for a blank, the silhouette is what I mostly stare at. -Wizer

May I ask what made you think of a Yale blank? The catalogs I read only listed CES as an alternative blank. Thanks

Because it does look like it is close to a Yale 998GG sectional key... It looks like it might not be a good match though as the warding in the keyway of the cylinder is a different shape which might not be totally accommodated by the milling on the Yale 998GG keyblank (I think it would bind on the key)... Also the top of the keyway blocking shapes might require some hand filing on the blank to make it fit... It is totally worth a shot to see if the GG blank will fit into the cylinder if you have one on hand... I have made an image of the comparison of the unknown Ikon keyway next to the PDF of the Ilco keyblank catalog image of the Yale GG profile but the "board attachment quota has been reached" and I do not feel like creating a photo hosting account somewhere just for the purposes of illustrating this reply... Query: Does anyone know why the quota has been reached or whether older images which are no longer associated with active threads/posts are still being stored by the board software reducing the space available for new images? Seems like some action should be taken on this issue to either clean out older images and make room for new files, or the quota for image attachments could be raised as an immediate temporary solution... ~~ Evan

I noticed also that several old posts were not available. Its like a time limit was added as well as the size.
For those who asked, I just flipped through an old Ilco cataog to see what I could find. I noticed the top wards were a little different, but, if you cut a key that has cuts lower than the ward it will still work. You may have to file the shoulder area just a little.
On the same subject of unfound key blanks... Does anyone know what blank is the mirror opposite of a Trimark TM15? This is for tool boxes found on work truck bodies.
