Your Favourite Handmade Pick-Showcase

Postby Scope » 27 Jul 2010 12:57

What is your most prized handmade pick, this is for the people who have homemade picks, shall we try and get a showcase going here?

Rules:

1) You can only show one pick or one you have but it's in a pick set with others you have a picture of. (in otherwords you have a picture but it's shown with others).

2) Can't be "work in progress", has to be the final product.

3) Full name of pick, how long ago you made it, how long it took to make (if you remember), total cost to make it & why is it your prized pick.

4) Any funny SHORT stories about your experience on making it.

5) Time to show your skills off!

This is just to see how creative people are and how well designed they look.

I would start but i can't as i don't have any :( . I'm sure one day ill have one to show off.

This has sort of already been done, that said, the pictures there are infuriatingly hard to find and you are asking for creative writing/bragging  so here it goes...

If I had to name it it would be the phantom.

This thing was a PITA to build. The hacksaw bit was easy enough, but the plexi handles took forever because plexi clogs cutting stones and carbide burrs (on dremels) like no other. Once I had two handles that were marginally the same size, I cut grooves in them, wrapped wires around the grooves and the hacksaw blade, and heat-shrunk over it. This pick was made in dec 08 and died a little yesterday, but even though it was short lived, it was very comfy, and the best pick I have made so far.

Some people you might want to search to see some awesome pics of picks are raimundo, ratyoke, locknewbie21 and legion. There are tons more, but it's been a while since I have done this, and I forget stuff.
