3 Bumpkeys - none working

Bump keys and lock bumping finally have their own area. Discuss making bump keys, proper bumping techniques, and countermeasures here.

3 Bumpkeys - none working

Postby rissp » 28 Jul 2010 10:45

I managed to make 3 bumpkeys (all with file).
For some reason no one works. (I tried every 3 on different locks).

I made 3 bump-keys becouse when first one didn't work I tried to make a little different and when second didn't work
I again tried to make a little different key.

Please if someone can tell me if any of these 3 keys is suiteble for bump-key :
(I tried all of them on different locks, mainly TITAN locks - as here in Slovenia these are most popular so I have them..)

mate just looking at you keys
the first one looks too shallow ,the second one looks to deep but the third one looks just right
*did you make these keys from blanks or were they pre-cut keys that you modified
*what are you using to bump the keys with
*find your self a space and depth key chart for the keys you are planning to use and check your tolerances with a micro meter ,this is what i did when i first started to fool around with bump keys and found it invariable to make sure the cuts were pretty close.

then when the locks did not open i knew i had to work on my technique.

dallalama , thanks

I made them from pre-cutted keys (first deepened cuts with small triangle file, then finished with round file), then filed of top and shoulder.
I used the following things to bump : screwdriver, wooden end of file, and some similar things..
