american half moon konockoff question.

I decided to gut this knockoff of an American lock, "half moon" rekeyable padlock. While dropping the drivers and springs in chamber 6 there was a strong spring, driver, and a ball bearing that does not enter the keyway at all. What is the purpose of this setup, the core only has 5 chambers, but this contraption is located in the bible at pin 6`s position.

Bump preventer!

The ball bearing on top of a chamber hole with a strong spring forces the plug to stay in the 0 degree position. This is a form of bump prevention. Much more than normal pressure must be applied to turn the plug and it is difficult to know how much pressure is just right or will bind the pins.

Oh....and also maybe to make the plug turn ''better'' because the holes in the core arent evenly spaced, big tool marks on the side of the core, filed on the plug here and there....
