European equipment.

Postby Halvard » 9 Aug 2010 13:24

I want to learn lock picking, but I don't know what type of equipment I should have. There are tons of different equipments.
I live in Norway and want to be able to pick lock norwegian doors. They look exactly the same as another european lock.
Is there different of european and american locks?

Im looking for something in the price between 20 and 30 dollars.

My MSN is halvard-bk@hotmail.com if anyone know much about european lock picking, please add me and explain :-)

If you're gonna help me on the forum, please use easy words. Im not very good in english.

Welcome to the forum Halvard,
European locks have narrower keyways than US locks. Look for slimline picks.
A good beginner set should contain

1 half diamond pick
1 short hook pick
1 long hook pick
1 Deforest pick
1 rake pick

All of the above in slimline format.

Thanks for the welcome! :)
But could you find a cheap useable equipment for me? And can I use that set you mentioned on regular european door locks?

Is this one like the one you said: http://www.lockpicks.com/creditcardpickset-jbcc-5.aspx ?
I want it to fit in my wallet so I can have it with me whereever I go :)

Those picks should work for most euro pin tumbler locks.
As for finding you a cheap set I would not know where to start as I am based in UK and usually buy tools from Uk suppliers.
Lockpickshop.com is our forum sponsor and should be able to ship to Norway. Remember to use the coupon code "LP101" for a 10% discount.

Have a read of the rules, and never pick a lock that is in use.
Happy picking!

Can I use that one in regular european outer door? :)

I know that its illegal to abuse the kit. I will only use it on fake locks! :)

fake locks? You are going to have it in your pocket at all times as you walk around and you want to pick exterior doors? This sounds very shady to me. I do not think lock picking is a good hobby for you.

How old are you, 13?

The credit card sets are too small for comfortable picking, stick with a southord set with handles while your learning.
Check you local laws about carrying lockpicks, as you might end up with some explaining to do with your local police. Buy some cheap padlocks and eurocylinders to practice on and keep your picks at home is the best advice I can give you.

Can you give me a link to a set where everything I need to learn and do pick locking is? If you find a cheap one I'd be very happy!

How do you edit posts here btw?

Hey man, we all work and aren't always here 24/7 waiting for someone to ask a question so we can reply to it. As I told another user this morning, this is not a LIVE chat room. If someone doesn't answer your question in an hour or even in 6 or 12 hours: PLEASE BE PATIENT!

And no, you shouldn't buy it from that site, I don't think they even ship international. READ THIS: http://www.defensedevices.com/info.html "USA Only - No international orders, no international credit cards."

It's a few dollars more, but we all know and trust lockpickshop.com and they ship international.

http://www.lockpickshop.com/shipping.htm
Shipping will be approximately $9.90 US
