The last thing that would happen after he was locked up and before he began his escape attempt, his wife would kiss him and pass a key tongue to tongue,
He got to inspect the locks a day before the trick and part of the inspection was to press a clay impression of the key, though this inspection was done in private.
Check out Serepick.com, they have video of breaking out of cable ties, thats interesting but dont try it on actual plasticuffs, its electrical cable ties that it works on.
I have asked Matt to provide some of the knotblocks from used plasticuffs so I can design a tool to lift the pawl, but he hasn't been able to do that yet.
Its the long cable ties that are used on the theory that crooks cant get plasticuffs,
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

Newbies to the site - like me - are encouraged to use the search function and read back over past pages of threads, and are criticised if they ask a question that has already been covered extensively.

If newbies do read back, they will inevitably come across threads that they find interesting and want to ask about or contribute to - and I'd guess in most cases their focus is on the subject and they don't even look at the date of the thread.

However, if they do resurrect a thread, they are then criticised for doing so.

I'm not having a pop at Hydruh but making a general point as I've seen several threads where members have played the Necro card.

Either lock all threads older than a certain date, or allow comment on old threads without jumping on the person resurrecting it.

Cheers...

I think on this forum at least we use it as a jovial jab at someone's n00biness. It's kinda funny when someone replies to a post from 2004, it shows they were knee deep in reading the forum and didnt even realize it. I do think it's funny to post some sort of necro card jpeg just to razzle them about it, it isnt done to scorn them or tell them not to reply to old posts, unless of course they're offering direct advice on something to a poster who hasn't been around in 5 years and will never read it. Still fun to make light of it, just for the sake of breaking up the monotony.

Enjoy the meteor showers tonight everyone in the USA, they start now.

I know the thread is dead, but i feel the need to gloat.

I am one of "those people" who can get out of straitjackets. Im an amatuer escape artist. I use picks to get out of any locked restraints, I dont hide it. ive posted videos of me getting out of some restraints. I think a year ago or so. I can bring those back up if you want.

actually that would be cool to see some escaping. i work with the local carnival myself from time to time. what i've heard about houdini is that it's not so much the escape or the locks or the situation he's in sofaras it is the hype surrounding the trick. like his acts would be a long one trick, and the crowd would just die of anticipation. i'm not a carny myself but my carny friends are encouraging me to do an act.

Looks like it came back to life, I would like to see as well, I think the old Tony Curtis' Houdini Movies Got me into escaping tecqniques as well.
I also read he kept picks on the bottom of his feet and under his armpit, Who wants to search under your armpit?

Its my understanding that, for houdini, it didnt matter how he got out of things (picks, keys, harry potter). It mattered that the audience didnt see him do it.

heres a video of me and my handcuffs when i first got them. I'll try to get a video of my straitjacket today.
