Sorry for the trouble, but I was just wondering....

I have just got in lockpicking and have some question about ordering my first set.
I know all the basic info, read a lot of the FAQs, but my concern is this statement:

"By placing an order for locksmithing tools, the buyer asserts to be a bonified member of the locksmithing industry or other qualified personnel.

United States Federal law prohibits interstate mailing of locksmithing devices unless the device is mailed to a lock manufacturer or distributor; a bona fide locksmith; a bona fide repossessor, or legally authorized recipients"

I just want to order for recreational use; like a hobby, but what exactly does that quote mean? Can I order to my house hassle free?
I know I am allowed to own such items as long as I don't them for criminal intent(Pennsylvania law).

Thank you for your time and thanks again in advance!

To comply with USPS regulations, they can only mail locksmith tools to "bona fide" locksmiths. Unfortunately the regs aren't very well written or defined. Does your state have a specific locksmith license, or do lockies just need a business license? "Bona fide" locksmiths can be full-time lockies, part-time lockies, students or others training to be lockies, related security professionals or those in training to become same, etc.

Ultimately any company that has this disclaimer is protecting themselves from liability. It's up to you to determine whether you fit into one of the above categories and order accordingly. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks for the reply!

Well, i found out that Blacksmiths don't require a license in Pennsylvania.

So let's say I were to order off of lockpickshop.com directly to my house.
I order a beginner set and a clear cutaway lock. The PA law only states 'criminal intent' is the restriction.
Would I receive those items on my doorstep without questioning(nothing bad, i promise)?

I dont plan to take them out of my house.
Would anyone get involved with this purchase and delivery?

I'm just trying to make sure I stay safe and don't have police knocking on my door asking me why I bought a lockpicking set.

Thanks. 8)

In America, you can have all the lockpicks you want inside your house and not get in any trouble for it. Now if police have a search warrant they can confiscate picks as evidence, but that's an entirely separate issue.
