The commercial no. 3 is identical to the standard one, the lock isn't the problem.
First thing I gotta say is, if you seriously wanna learn picking, the Dyno Kwik is by far the worst thing you could have bought. After 10 minutes googling this thing, it's pretty clear why you're not having much luck!! It's a retractable S rake in a big clunky off-balanced housing, and it comes with "easy instructions". That pretty much says it all right there.
The only reason you're getting the first master open is pure luck. I know you can do it in your sleep, but that doesn't mean there's any skill involved. It means the exact opposite; that particular lock just happens to have a very easy bitting... simple as that. The commercial one most likely isn't opening because it has a tougher bitting, or contains at least one low lift pin, so you're always gonna be oversetting something. That's not much of a problem, you can pick those masters easily enough regardless of the key bitting... just not with wild gadgety raking goodness.
My advice to you is to:
1. If possible, return that thing to wherever you bought it from ASAP and use the money to buy a proper set of picks. What you've bought is a toy, designed for opening very basic locks with easy pin configurations. And you paid $20 for it!! It's not even worth $5, at least not in terms of practical use.
2. If you can't return it, file that snake (lol) into a short hook. It'll only take 2 minutes, and yeah it'll still be sucky to use cos of the balance issue and the thickness of the handle... but it's better than that crappy rake. Just remember to keep your finger on the pick shaft when using it, cos otherwise you'll get next to no feedback from it.
3. Read up on how locks actually work and the binding defect that makes picking possible (
here)... it's more complicated than just pushing all the pins down and applying tension. I wouldn't be surprised if those were the instructions supplied with that thing though, so it's not your fault everything is going wrong so far.
