The first lock is a Federal 100G and the other is the DG master. From what I read both are Military contract locks When the dealer handed me the keyset to my NEW truck there were two keys- both were master brand. I assumed I had keys for only one of the locks; but failed to try them out. I should have known when the dealer offhandedly said: 'I just grab any set because all these military trucks are keyed alike" Well it looks like he gave mine away on a different sale- I called when I discovered the useless keys I was given.
So here it is: I have been an amateur lock-picker since I was in the seventh grade- My first gym combination lock was one of those sturdy looking Slaymakers- the light-graphite colored ones. Being raised in the era of spy movies and toys- everything from Secret Agent Man and Mission Impossible with Peter Graves to Secret Sam Briefcase and Morroco Mole, I could not help myself and soon (under three hours) I used the known combination to key in on the subtleties of each click and discovered I could open the lock with my eyes closed- my next door neighbor and schoolmate bought the same lock and within minutes of this "system we were both cracking "combos". This led to a lifetime of picking other types of locks, buying and making picks, always getting excited when the street cleaner goes past my house

Well today I finally got around to taking the locks off the chain. My hope was to get them picked and use the codes to get them rekeyed. The first one I worked on was the master s I have had some experience with other master laminates- No joy yet. The picking of the 100G was not going anywhere either. I remembered I had purchased a set of 24 or so BUMP keys a year ago, so I pulled them out and found one that slipped right into the 100G. About 12 raps later it popped open- I love this stuff.
Questios:
Is the 100G a lock I can rekey myself? I have rekeyed some locks- cars and house locks; but no padlocks that I remember. And are there any secrets to picking and rekeying the DG master?
Also, are these locks likely to be popularly keyed alike enough to where I could ask other CUCV owners if they can give me a copy of theirs?
Thanks, and sorry for such a long post- I just didn't want to have you think I was a total neophite with a passing interest.
