Can't Get Schlage Everest IC Out of Lock

Postby MacGnG1 » 3 Oct 2010 14:32

So I got a SFIC deadbolt with an Everest core in it. It is keyed to 0.

I can use the key to turn the cylinder and I've been able to pick it, but I cant get the core out!

See the picture :)

THANKS!

1. that is a LARGE Fomat IC Not SFIC ( small format like best or falcon)

You will need to cut the shoulders back ( top and bottom) on one of those keys. The control pin is in the 7th position and is a #6 cut ( I think) just cut the shoulder a small amout so the 7th cut is riding on the tip slope.

got some stuff from chat:
[16:06] <sfi72> macgng: A. that is a mortise cylinder, B. it is an ic and since it is 0 bitted, you can just lift the pins up to the same height to open the lock, it is a schlage type IC cylinder so there is a control pin instead of a control sleave, all you have to do it retract that pin to remove the lock from that shell, by lifting the very last pin in addition to the first pins

MacGnG1:

Go to a locksmith with your LFIC housing and core and buy a control key for it...

That is a non-Primus Schlage Everest cylinder so such control key blanks are not restricted...

You will need one if you ever intend to use this lock as you will have trouble removing the core from the housing to rekey it...

yeah i already got one. after trying 3 different lockies, i finally found one near me that has them. cost me 2 bucks + tax. lot cheaper than ebay... or the lockie up the street ordering one and charging me 10 bucks!

i also figured out the bypass method the first lockie used to get the core out.

and grinding a key blank down actually worked pretty well considering.

all in all it was an interesting addition to my collection for a total of $22.12

more fun with this lock to come! :)
