Rytan Distributors

Hey all,

I did not want to dredge up an old thread (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29898&hilit=rytan) since it would probably be more appropriate to make a new one with a direct query. What I would like to know is where one can find online distributors of Rytan pics (individual or sets). I did put in an order for a couple of pics at http://www.lockandsupply.com/, but was interested in attaining more items (RLPX-18, for example).

I did see that there was a link in the aforementioned thread that pointed to http://www.keybitslockandkey.com/, they informed me that they no longer "sell picks through the mail".

The added pinch here is that I am a hobbyist and not a part of ALOA, thus why I assume I am having trouble finding anything. I look forward to your replies.

Thanks,
ChonkyTonks

I did a lot of research and found two places online that actually had Rytan picks for sale.

1. Rininger Lock and Supply - lockandsupply.com

They do not have a lot of lock picking tools, but they do have a spattering of HPC and Rytan. Their prices are not terrible, especially if you are just going to purchase a couple of items.

I had to call and get an update on the order and, while on the line, they asked me whether I was a registered locksmith. I was honest and told them that I am just a hobbyist, which gave them pause, but seeing as I live in Pennsylvania (no laws about lock picking tools...yet), they were willing to do business and ship them to me.

Ultimately, I called and canceled my order today because of the following supplier.

2. LDM Enterprises - http://ldment.com/

Leslie (the owner) is phenomenal. I spoke with her on the phone about which picks she stocks (all of them, apparently) and she not only took me through everything Rytan she had, but also her closeouts on HPC.

I ended up going with the RYPK-32, Type 5 Set (http://www.rytan.com/cgi-bin/detail.php?pn=RYPK32,%20TYPE-5 along with all but one of the MLPX series.

The great thing about this experience was that I know I can go back to her in the future and she can work with me to piece together a set, if I need to.

Again, being that I live in PA, she was willing to work with me knowing full well that I am not licensed.

There you have it.
