Vault Lock Lock Box...

I do maintenance on foreclosed homes, and change the locks out. We use vault locks for the lock boxes. Someone had put one on and forgotten the combination so I just took the whole knob and lock box off. My question is how to get the lockbox off so I can reuse it as these locks are quite pricey, and I have to supply my own locks. It is a four digit numeric lock.

what do you mean by vault locks?

Do you have a brand name and model? We normally do not help with combination locks, especially ones that are used and trusted to secure keys to houses and offices.

if $29 is too high to pay for a new one, grab some beers, sit down and start dialing the numbers from 0000 to 9999. People like using years so try 1900-2010 first, it's probably a year. In fact, try the range 1940-1990 first. Make sure you know the procedure on a box you do have access to so you know what it feels like when you have the right code, then go to the locked box with forgotten code and start dialing. and check to see if you have to press a reset button each time you dial or try to open the box, some makes and models make you press a reset button, Supra is like that.

Have fun, and no, there's no other way into the boxes other than breaking them open.

you think $12 dollars is quite pricey? Some of us spend $300 per lock on some locks, so $12 is not what we would call pricey. either get a hammer and have some fun, or dial 0000 thru 9999 and open it. That's about it.
