help 3 lever locks

been pickin pin tumblers locks with quite a bit of success and can strip them down and rebuild them no problem but talk about lever mortice locks i cannot work them out bought a 3 lever lock yesterday took it apart but sill carn't work them out .
i understand the working but cannot figure out the principle of picking them come on guys give us some help.

The principle, AFAIK is the same, apply tension, pick the lever. Tension is applied at the stump I beleive.

You need 2 pieces of wire bent into an l shape, welding rod is good. Place one wire into the lock against the talon, this is the piece the bolt is attached to. Place quite a bit of tension on it as if you were trying to open the lock. Now take the other wire and lift the levers up and it should spring open. You could also try making the second wire an upside down "u" shape to lift all of the levers at once. This method wont work on bs standard mortice locks as they have a curtain and normally some anti pick notches on the gates. Its a bit harder to explain than do but if you know how the lock works you will work it out.

yes picked my first 3 lever era lock today and as many of you say once you understand the lock working it is quite easy used two pieces of coat hanger.
i work in the metal industry and am going to make some proper jobs any one with some good pictures please email them to me thanks

Well done as you can see they are not that hard. Here are some pics of the picks that can defeat those locks. The wire picks are made from spring steel and welding rod and the spring steel can take quite a bit of pressure to tension the lock.The top right pick is used to pass through the door to turn the handle on a key if it is left in the door and the one below can turn the key. The bunch in the middle are jigglers

Do you sell a set like that or know who does? I'm working for the US Army in Kuwait and we have quite a few of those over here.

Use a wire coat hanger or some welding rod it works quite well. I picked a lock the other day for someone using the coat hanger as i didnt have my tools with me. Once you have tried it you will see what i mean.

I bought a set of three lever jigglers - but am finding them difficult to achieve with - am i missing something??

remember the principle of picking any lever lock regardless of levers , read my post " picking with 2 in 1 pick or curtain pick.
but basicaly;

the lever fences and stump on a lock are mass produced to tight tolerances, but are never perfect, therfore once tension is applied to the bolt via the talon, the stump will press against the lever fence, as the stump isnt perfectly straight nor the fences perfectly identical one lever will bind first, with your 2nd L wire you lift the binding lever until you feel a slight movement on the bolt, this will be picked, you then feel for the next binding lever and so on till open.

as for anti pick notches, legge now have these on there new range of 1643 locks, when you pick into an anti pick notch , to get out of it once identified, you need to apply slight lift pressure to the lever and slightly relax the tension upon the bolt, the lever will then jump out of the anti pick to the gate, as the lever jumps out of the anti pick you reinstate the tension to the bolt, i have explained this more fully in the posting mentioned above.

are you just using the jigglers on their own or with a wire to aply tension to the talon ?
