Crash Courses Video for the Novice?

Postby higgsy » 8 Nov 2010 16:29

Sorry if it's already been covered. Looking for very simple, comprehensible videos as a novice. The shorter the better. I found some DORMA videos on Google but need more info.

My background is in construction and I like those simplified handyman reference books but I am just now beginning in the business as an apprentice and was wondering what you think are the best dvd series to buy or download for free just to get started. Focus on rekeys and car opening.

Also if there is a training course which runs the gambit that you think is essential to the dedicated. Be it book or video. Video, preferably.

I'll brush up on the terminology too, if that's giving you a headache.

Thanks in advance. Great site.

Theres plenty of books on the subject, I personally learnt from them, but if you search youtube theres alot of quasi-educational videos on picking! But for me, basic knowledge of lock was needed, but practice teaches you the most!

Learning to feel out the lock and get used to what set pins feel like, how much rotational pressure to apply etc it cant be read or viewed on a video.

Hope this helps!

you need a crash course so you can become expert this afternoon?

forget dvds, read some of the pertinent stickys on this forum and to to the local "pickyourpart" junk yard, wander amoung the wrecks collecting windshield wiper inserts, and try out some of the door locks,

and while you're there pick up a few mercedes or BMW locks for me, I so seldom get out to the pickapart places anymore.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
