Guide Project

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

my Project is a comprehensIve pick making guide/program in Willl have exact measurements , steps ,materials , printable templates ,ad techniques for each pic group ,and tension tool, for manual and mechanic picks, , also Will be adding a lock section listing a large number of locks and there info ,and the picking technique/tool best for each lock, , when i am don't , if i get admins aprovel i Willl post Free DL for all LP101 members, , i have a large part of this completed , here is where i ask for help there is a couple locks i need some info on i have not personally picked or been able to find the info on,and there is a few picks i have not been able to make successfully to the standard i think is acceptable , locks info i need is on the medeco XT ,and the pick info i need is Peterson dimple and the Bogota , now let me say , i know there is guides on here, Ive read EVERY single word posted on the site :) many times
what i don't have Exact measurements, that i want to put into autocad, , thank you for your time , any and all ides are appreciated

what peterson dimple pick... and you may want to talk to raimundo abt the measurments of a bogota... or buy one from serepick.com and measure it yourself.

I will ask ray if i get a chance, as far as buying one ive spent more then id like to admit already, including a Bagota from him that in my stupidy i broak and trashed , months befor this project was thought about, ill try and get a pic of the peterson pick im refering to ASAP,and i might have the Lock info i need e-mailed from a local locksmith friend !

I don't use measurements like you do, the width of the stock is one measurement, but I work with what I have whether it be street bristle or just a straighted cheap headphone band, the first cuts are made with a quarter inch chain saw file which leaves its dimension more or less on the finished pick spacing, then the shaft is cut down to a slight taper thinning toward the tip. I give it the eye to see if the shape is pleasing and thats how I do it.

Also do not try to cut the profile of a pick too closely with the files, there is more meta that will be coming off in the rough sanding and this should be part of the shaping of the pick, then as you get to the finer sand paper its only surface finishing but watch the tips of the peaks and other high points to see that they are not worn off.

meta in the above post should read metal, not all such mistakes are typos by me, some of them are made by the keyboard and others are due to bits getting stuck in the interwires.
