Odd "Pin" in ABUS 55/30

I'm trying to figure out what this odd "pin" is in the back of an ABUS 55/30. I noticed it after a discussion with datagram where he cleared up my understanding of paracentric keyways and the purpose of the ward in the keyway (thanks!).

It appears to enter the plug at a 45 degree angle relative to the key pins. I couldn't manage to take a photo of it, so I improvised a diagram from a picture of another lock from the 55/30 line. Location/size/orientation are approximate as staring down a keyway is not the best way to measure something.



I was asked if there were any features on the key, so I took a photo. Additionally, there's an adjusted version to better show the bitting of the key. (I believe that this lock has 3 pins, however, there are what look to be 4 cuts--and there's still the matter of that strange "pin" at the end.)




Anyone know what it is?

I must admit that I thought Abus made a big thing of making all their locks in Germany. So that doesn't answer your question, but I wonder what it is you really have there.

Huh. Have you managed to pick this lock? If not, maybe it's a pin like what is found in dimple locks. Maybe a sidebar? I'm just throwing ideas out there, not claiming to know anything here.

OK. just read your post again, and realise that it is a picture of some completely different lock to the one you were talking about. I thought it looked too thin. Sorry.

I've managed to pick the lock--it only takes a few seconds at this point. Right after the shoulder (moving bow-to-tip), there appears to be a cut, but perhaps it's some other artifact. The "pin" thing doesn't seem to move, as far as I can tell. It's definitely not a dimple lock.
