I particularly like the bolt throw design which as far as i can tell prevent s a hole being drilled to throw the bolt manually. It works similar to a square wheel moving on a semicircular grooved track.

No joy picking it yet although i can set 90% of the pins using a raking method.

If my memory serves, there is only a 0-3 cut depth system on the Gerda. 0 being flat (as in - no cut at all) 3 being the deepest.

I've actually been looking to get my hands on one. The Tytan ZX, which I've read some interesting things about online, has 16 pins, and yes they do use a 3 position system. But the security of at least those particular locks is pretty advanced. They use steel and brass lock pins with some mushrooms, hard to pick, stupid to drill. The lock is well thought about in terms of security, even though it is nothing really new or special, and it's not really even precisely made, but it is secure, probably more secure then any recent biaxial, though i would like to play with a Gerda lock to be able to say anything certain. Kriminalist report shows that even if you drilled out the center piece of the keyway, which is by the way hardened, because of the locations of the pins, each one of the 4 of the quadrupal pin stacks hit each other, and you can try and remove the pins from the inside, but not only is it hard work, but then you are stuck on the springs, which are cone-shaped, so they don't want to come out naturally, and they are attached to the lock, so they really don't want to come out; makes the lock not very serviceable, but makes it secure from drilling and removing pins....
Let the picking begin...

This looks a lot like another lock in my collection, an old Helason... their keys look exactly the same

here is some info and photo about gerda lock, but it's in russian.

interesting thing that authors spend more than hour on defeating the leck. true is that with proper electric tools and of course knowledge it can be opened by destructive means in about 5 minutes. i thought that it's a nice lock(at least for non destructive entry in means of security), but changed my mind after some chat with an alarm entry specialist.

So are these in Poland? I will be there later this year and will look for some. Great all I need is one more thing to collect so now locks and pick tools are a new thing.

Yes I personally refer to them as XSML (Nocut,Small, Medium, Large) and have the depths somewhere. I have dismantled one somewhere I'll try an get some pics up sometime. BTW keys are VERY easy to make with only basic materials and tools and there are weaknesses in how they are Master keyed in that you can work out the Grand Master key cuts if you have access to as few as 3 or 4 pass keys.
