Uh, close it and see if that allows the tension tool to be removed? Post photos, describe the lock (make and model), describe the tension tool, or in some other way provide more details.
It's a good day when I learn something new.

I've had this happen once or twice before with rim cylinders, where it's got stuck in the warding cos of the force needed to turn after picking. Just lock it back up and wiggle it free... don't force it though, whatever you do. It'll come loose easily enough, just don't panic or get frustrated and you'll be fine.

this can happen in master locks if the tensor blade is long and goes through the cylinder and into the space where the locking dogs are. Like a spidermonkey trap, you have to let go of the peanut to get your hand out, or on the master lock you have to stop doing what dosen't work, and reverse direction of the tension to remove the tensor.

With a pair of bogotas, if one, being used as a tensor is stuck, you can remove the other pick and put the tensor bend of it under the tensor bend of the stuck pick and while holding the end of the tensor so it doesn't straighten that bend, pull up on both sides of the bend on the loose pick so that the loose pick pulls straight out on the stuck tensor, this keeps you from rebending that stuck tensor and possibly breaking off the stuck part leaving it in the lock.

if I could draw pictures on this message it would be clearer.

man, I would be pleased if any of you could post pictures or videos on this particular problem, because I am sincere in saying that I never had this problem and would like to know what causes it and how to solve it.
