Lock cleaning acid?

Hello from south africa. . .Does anyone maybe know of a cleaning agent that i can soak my locks in to clean them up inside? I got a few nice locks but they very dirty and i wana clean them out. Thanx 4 any help

hot soapy water then spray them down with something like WD-40 to displace the water. maybe some type of brake cleaner then hit them with something to lube them? i think acid would be a little hard on them.

Some solvents like acetone will do wonders for cleaning locks (especially superglued ones) after soaking for a little bit. I'm not sure if it's available in South Africa, but in most places you can buy it off-the-shelf in hardware stores.
