And I know Ben is working on a LockCon edit of the documentary he is making. No word when that will be finished, but should be pretty good.

Awesome stuff there, the caliper it sounded like you said cruplin measuring device? And the KJS tool, where would I come by these toys? Great stuff on the video for learning.

I noticed the modified cylinder to give you an indication on your spacing when starting. In the States, our Abus 83 series padlocks, for example, are shipped 0 bitted with blanks that are also 0 bitted, not necessarily just blanks. I like to take these key blanks, Schlage C or Kwikset 1163 for example, and use them specifically for impressioning for the same purpose. I know my spacing is already set for me when I reach into the box - all I have to do is put a blade edge on them and start impressioning.

Do they have those over there and you just not prefer to use them? Or do you use them? I'd appreciate your insight because I've noticed I'm not alone in the States doing this - quite a few locksmiths use this method.

Loved the video. Insane picture quality, too.

@Wolfspring:

It's a Kroeplin, any other caliper will do, but I prefer this one:

The KJS tools is brilliantly made by Jord (http://knaapjunior.nl).
As it was a custom job for me, I'm not sure if he actually sells them.

@Confederate

I have never heard of these. Why the *BLEEP* do they ship locks with such a weird biting?
It sounds like these blanks are pre-KJS-tool-ed! :-) If they would also sell them in 11111 form instead of 00000, that would take about 15 seconds of my opening times.
(but I have serious doubt if these would be allowed during any games)

Concerning the video quality: Yep, Ben did bring some serious equipment to Sneek.

They are manufactured/ shipped that way so they can be keyed into an existing system. It makes it easy to take apart because it basicly opens with a " blank" and you don't have to worry about having the correct key.
