At work we have a Remington Express gun safe. We keep having problems with the lock and now we can't get in. I know about putting the new battery to the external plate to have enough power to use the combination and open the safe. This isn't working though. Does anyone know any other methods I could try?

What criminalhate is saying is that the topic of how to open safes is considered a topic that is not discussed in public on this forum. The best advice is to seek the help of a local locksmith who can help you open the safe without damage and who can perform maintenance on it so that you don't run into the same problem in the future.

You also might want to call the factory. Have allthe info available, like make, model, serial #,and plan on showing proof the safe is yours

Yeah, called the factory. They told us to tape the new battery to the outside terminal for 12 hours and see if that does it. I'm not optimistic. The locksmith who came out (after I had posted) said that if that didn't work he'd have to drill and that he'd never seen a safe before where you couldn't change the battery from the outside. I get why there isn't any other information that can be given. I'm pretty sure that we may be looking at getting a new safe once we get into it no matter what. Anyone have any recommendations on ones that work well and pros and cons of different features (like key backup for opening, dial vs electronic, etc)?

We ended up sawsalling the door off for free. We weren't going to keep the safe even if the locksmith could have kept it intact.
