LockPick brands

Name your top brand you swear by.

Just for a general idea what people say is the best/prefered maker.

I switch back and forth between peterson, goso and southord slimlines just depending on what I'm in the mood for. I have a majestic set aswell which I'm quite fond of, mind you it's mainly for the old-school look and feel of them

I don't have any hands-on experience with the other brands listed, but if I had to choose just one out of the sets I have, I'd go with peterson since they score high all round.

Great variety of picks, they're super smooth, and there's no beating those dipped handles. I can't imagine comfier picks... never any fear of bending them either, which is a plus, and their wrenches are fantastic too. To be fair, I don't use them very often, but if I could only have one set of wrenches it'd be theirs for sure. I know peterson picks are designed more for US keyways, but they can get around most stuff here just fine - although if it wasn't for the slender range, I might be swayed it get the slimlines instead for just-in-casies.

You really need to mention homemade products...
I've done quite well with my own products...
The BiLock isn't the first bump proof pin tumbler because it isn't a pin tumbler.
And it's called a shear line, not a "sheerline".

I don't think homemade should be a category in this poll. Home made is not a brand.

Ah, but the poll itself says "manufacturer," so of course people who manufacture their own will prefer their own. We make our own picks because we know what we want better than anyone else.

In the spirit of the poll, I voted for the only commercial brand that does everything I need: Peterson. But they come in third after my own (see above) and Rai's Bogotas.

I love making and using my own picks too, and of course those would be an overall top choice because of the self reliance factor... but since this is a poll on brands, I chose what I chose and I'm sticking with it. :)

Overall I like my Petersons for most locks, although I'll sometimes use a SO slimline for smaller keyways if the need arises. And I'm with Solomon about the Majestic brand. They give me a very nostalgic feeling cos they were the first real pickset I saw and owned. More of a collectable item to me now than for regular use.

I now use Petersons, but when I need something for a small keyway I turn to my Rytan double ender, hook, diamond. I really don't need anything else. When I am at work and don't want to dig into my tool kit in my vehicle I use a couple of HPC picks, but I primarily use the Peterson brand now.

I like sparrows, mainly because it's what I have. I have some basic petersens which serve there purpose, but I still use a south ord hook a lot and it is one of my go to as it has a longer tip than the sparrows and is better for most Amercian padlocks.
