My Safe change keys robbed

Postby xlr8ed1 » 15 Sep 2004 2:39

My work van was broken into on Sunday and i had a couple of tool boxes robbed. Picks and all sorts of tools went. More more importantly my safe change keys went which i can't replace easily. esp. the chubb ones (there are four different types basicly) some of which you can no longer get from chubb. But also the Le Gard and S+G ones went as well

Does anyone know where i can get these things from? Because sure as hell no one near me is going to give any to me (locksmiths are funny tight ass type of people in my experience - don't want to help nobody in case they lose jobs)

The thing that gets me is that the f**king theif is most likely put them in the bin not knowing what they are.

Have spent $7000 replacing all tools over the two days (bit like xmas really) but it is those things made by your self that really hurts. I had drill templates for chubb legge era - all gone - which reminds me does anybody have any drill templates they can sell or if they have the right demnisions for them that they can pm me.

Lever packs for the old legge and yale locks - all gone - bits of wire handy for things (picking) - all gone

Tools can be replaced and i could make more templates but it is the time one has to spend to do it all again, you just dont recover in three days of swinging a hammer and drilling a couple of holes. It is going to take 6 months before i get right but those change keys they will never be seen again i feel.

Good afternoon xlr8ed1

Yes, it is sad when someone takes something that is yours.
Our commiserations regarding your theft.

We hope that after your [Xmas] spending spree you have enough money left over to buy the change keys which you are desperate for.

Have found a link which we trust that you might find helpful:

http://www.caoshilock.com.cn/parts/lockhpc/t_slcsg.htm

And a very handy little tool is:

http://www.keedex.com/k18.pdf

Most of the Chubb change keys, over here, can be made by modifying the S&G change keys.

i can pm you accurate drill points for all uk locks, let me know what size drill bit you use as this affects the drill point.
i have all drill points and id points in my head, using 8mm, 6mm , 4mm and 2mm bits, only because i shamelessly teach this.

i think chris a plasma cutter would be an option, though not very often i do come into contact with the 3g112 range in my other work capacity, though not many custodial locks on my council estates, though wouldnt be a bad idea.

Are the said aforementioned locks for use solely in Her Mejesty's correctional facilities? They really must be an incredible lock.

i have heard tales of these turning up on safe boxes, expensive gates, secure hospitals and even on a safe, but mainly on lets say secure premises.

Good morning Mbell and Pinky,

I have only ever come across them in the aforementioned HM use, but it appears that Pinky has more info of other situations???
I have had to retro fit some of these onto steel doors, and they are quite obnoxious to say the least !!
The main problem that I've come across with these is excessive wear on the closing side of the saddle. You can guess what problems that can cause??

Pinky, if I decide to make a commercial pick for these, you will need a trailer to carry it, or it might even give you a hernia ???
