New Design, New Handles

Next style I'm working with in addition to the others. These are solid mahogany handles, 3 coat finish with a full tang.

Very light and sturdy, very happy. Of course made with the 301 SS high tensile.



Sure to show up in the B/S/T. Have some nice walnut and REALLY nice purpleheart (probably going to make a full on set with case and wrenches limited edition of one)

do you carve the handles by hand or do you have a machine do it? how long does it take to make each handle.

All my picks are done by hand - start to finish - from cutting, grinding and shaping to sanding, polishing and finishing.

These handles take about an hour (not including the drying time )

Definitely thought about it, pretty tough to get creative with them and still have them functional, particularly in tight spaces or restrictive areas.

Very nice work. I love walnut and hardwoods. If you keep this up, be on the lookout for plum wood also, and if you ever get bored or want some ideas for other woods to work with I found a site with a picture catalog.

Also are you able to do any custom engraving on any of your designs? That may be quite enticing for people, especially if you're thinking of doing limited edition box sets and such.

I would consider engraving if I could get my hands on something that would do a nice clean design, but as it stands now, it takes a loooong time just to make these.
