What's with this error message "You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum", when trying to access the Combination, Electronic, and Safe section?

I'm from Boston, and work on bank equipment both physical and electronic; vaults, safes, safe deposit, AHD's, etc...

Thanks.

I am new to locksport. I have done the usual "pick a few locks around the house" and I am interested in learning more and getting more involved.

Hi all, this is a great board (I've been lurking for a couple of days) and I'm new to lock picking. I have opened a couple of locks so far (a master lock #3 was my first and I'm getting pretty good at that one, another master lock that was small and plastic covered and I didn't get the number off of it, I also got lucky on a master lock #140 three or four times, and I made a key to open a cheap warded lock from Walmart. )

I hope to get some good info here and eventually be able to help some folks out.

hello from ohio

found the board and signed up.
started looking around due to the fact that i am finishing the penn foster course.
(paid with money supplied as a yearly benefit through my employer union. figured i have it, use it for something)

even if PF eats it and may not be thorough or well regarded, it was a starting point and i know more now than i did before.

i work in a correctional facility. (so i am intrigued with the physical security aspects of prison and, by default, high security locks.)

hopefully i can continue to improve my abilities

Hey everyone,

I'm new to lock picking. Saw a post on Boing Boing about the bogota, and ordered one from Serepick. Matt was really great to deal with BTW... I picked my first lock in 5 seconds (was a Magnum 250) and was pretty excited. Then I tried a Master No 3 I had sitting around, and I can't get it to budge! So finally I went out and got a few more pad locks from the dollar store, a small brass Sabre, a larger no name brass, and a Chateau 50mm. I've tried for a couple of days with no luck on any of them! It seems that the Master 3 will only turn counter clockwise with the key, so I'm using the tension wrench in that direction, but no luck. I've watched all the videos on youtube, read the MIT, and searched this forum... I just am not getting it. I'm using a pretty light touch, and varying the tension. I can still open that little Magnum is 5 sec, using the basic rocking, jiggling motion. Anyways, any thoughts, help or words of encouragement are appreciated. Still having fun with this cool new hobby... thx for the forum :)

I know this site for more than a year know, and finally decided to sign up.

Introducing myself as a beginning lockpicker, after being a locksmith in the Netherlands for several years now.
I like to learn more about opening safes and vaults, because i'm only expierencend with (the older) key operated ones.

Hello. I'm still relatively new here, although I created my account here some time ago.
I guess a brief summary of my interests are Security, and Locksmithing/Locksport. I'm a US veteran of both the Navy and Army (in that order), and am currently disabled, but working as a freelance security adviser, firearms instructor, and locksmith. I've been tinkering with locks now for about 4 years total. I have a diploma from Ashworth college in locksmithing, but I know that I still have a lot to learn. During my time in the service I was a small arms safety and marksman instructor, armorer, locksmith, and security team trainer. I'm currently looking to establish myself better in the security and locksmithing field, and have been accumulating the necessary tools and know-how to get started.

That's all for now. :)

Hello...just an intro..Own a shop in Virginia Beach VA. And lock picking is necessity not a hobby. I have been picking locks (desk, jewelry boxes, small padlocks etc.) all my life but the locks i've been dealing with the last few years have been at the least very challenging!! Changed the combo on all our large safes...and made keys for the inner doors (my locksmith was impressed !!). Now we added Ademco bolts to all our doors and changed a few combos to electronic... Now working on a Sargent and green leaf combo on a large cast iron safe from the early 1900's that was hit with sledge hammer... [edit]

Hello Everyone,
I just replaced my apartment door lock yesterday(a very old Weiser) and thanks to this site successfully picked my first lock. I found a lot of thrill out of getting the lock to turn for the first time. I didn't use any proper tools which is most likely a frowned upon, but I am quite excited about improving my skills. I plan on making my first pick this coming weekend when I go home and get access to a grinder and other tools to make a proper pick. In the mean time I am keeping my attention focused on a junk helping hand padlock that I have had laying around, and it is proving to be quite difficult. If all goes well I hope advance my skills, learn, and contribute to this community.
P.S. I am a forum noob, I apologize in advance for any posting mistakes I might make.

Hi everyone most people know me as Higgy. I own and run a tattoo studio in Liverpool England. I'm new to lock picking and need as much help as I can get. I became interested after locking myself out and being charged £60 or about $90 for the 2 seconds of the locksmiths time and knowledge. I'm not complaining but I never want to pay for that service again lol. The bonus for me is finding out how poor cheap locks can really be, just put quality locks on my studio!!!!! Well look forward to using the forum. :)
