Automotive Help?

Postby HigherAuthority » 28 Mar 2011 19:50

Hey guys!

Pretty new to this forum as of today but I tend to lose my keys and have lost my moms car keys MANY times in the past... I have read a lot of these topics here on automotive help but it seems to be pretty widespread on the info I would like to know.

I would like to purchase a set of auto lockpicking equipment keys hopefully under 100 dollars... any price under that is ine but i have come across so many posts n ads for these types of things so I would like to have personal responses with reviews.

Is there a set of automobile picks you guys would recommend? I dont have a specific car in mind but i guess if i had to say it would be sedan(dont even know if that means anything). but i would honestly love some help.. even if they included a cd or link for some informative information..

thank you guys and appreciate it! i like your site so far!

Automotive locks and picks are an advanced topic, so you won't be finding many answers about that here in the open forums.

Do you have any lock picking experience, pin tumblers, etc? Why the interest in only automotive lock picking? You gotta see this from the perspective of members/moderators/admins here, for a first post, asking about tools required on a budget for getting into vehicles (non specific vehicles) come's off pretty suspect.

Much cheaper to buy a couple of sets of duplicate car keys!

100 bucks will buy you tons of keys and hida key compartments that's for sure.

I can never understand why folk who say they regularly lose their keys think that the answer is to carry lockpicks (which in some places might be illegal unless you are a locksmith, or at best leave you wide open to suspicion if you get caught with them). Why is it any less likely that the lockpicks would be lost than the keys?

If I regularly lost or forgot my car keys I'd have spares cut, give one to a neighbour, friend or workmate, lock one in my work desk drawer, put one in a secure pocket of several regularly worn outfits, hang one on a chain around my neck, slip one into my wallet or glasses case or whatever. I'd do all that before I pocketed a set of lockpicks and tried to remember to take that with me wherever I went and whatever I was wearing - and you'd have limited options for carrying them with you anyway, bearing in mind some pockets would be too small and others would risk the picks getting bent.

Cheers...

+1 on wallet. I keep my Toyota key in my wallet, and it is not a small key If your key has a large plastic head over the metal, get a copy made that doesnt have that and it will be a lot flatter in your wallet.

good advice EmCee, thank you!

Okay well thank you guys I don't have much experience so I guess I'll have to work my way up.

Reason I ask about this is because my car is a push to a start so you don't need a key to get into the car you only need the sensor thing so when thats misplaced its pretty much a double **** kinda thing. but thank you guys I'll begin reading around the site and learning. Thanks guys!

Please help me follow your logic.

1. Car requires transponder to start
2. You lose keys a lot
3. You buy auto picks, which lack a transponder
4 (finish this one for me)
