Continuing the freezing theme, years ago there used to be a keychain lock de-icer, which ran from 2XAA batteries. This thing had an extendale probe, which got hot enough to burn my upper lip.

Has anyone tried freezing a lock with the pins pushed up, then using this lock de-icer, starting at the back pin & pulling it out whilst touching the other pins? (obviously a tension wrench is involved here too. )

Yeah Hojo, I'd read that before, but haven't read anything about someone using the keychain lock de-icer...do they still sell these? Obviously, as it doesn't snow in Bermuda, or even get below 50f, the last time I saw one was long ago in the U.K.

Have you tried the coolant spray gum remover? It's an aerosol canister of what amounts so freon. You spray it on gum that's been dropped on the floor, and it hardens/cools the gum enough that you can scrape it up with a putty knife. It may or may not give you enough cooling in situ to alter a lock, but the cans usually come with a spray tube (like WD-40) that makes it easier to get into keyways.
Even better just get a can of compressed air and spray it upside down so it comes out as a freezing liquid. I'm assuming canned air is easier to find that gum remover.

...and get yourself a huge fine if caught doing so. Not to mention adding to that hole above our heads, which will result in increasing amounts of skin cancer, rising sea levels, weather disruptions (which we are already seeing), lowland flooding, etc...

CFC's are already known to be ozone depleting, which is why HFC's were developed. They'll probably tell us that HFC's are worse in years to come...

Ummm...Are you sure about that RJ-11? R-11 is a low pressure refrigerant. Meaning the boiling point is around 69 deg F. They don't sell R-11 in cans anywhere that I know of. They do sell it in drums as small as 10 gal if you don't have a barrel dolly handy.
