Marking the pick relative to the pin location

I saw a post where a person marked a pick so he could
tell he was at pin 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively.
I couldn't find that post. If someone knows what I'm talking about, could you post the link?
Also, for anyone who has done this trick, can you recommend a specific marker.
I tried pencil and permanent marker, but was unhappy with both.
Ideally, I'd like something that shows a deep thin line for visibility and exactness, but rubs off when
I want it to. Thanks for the help.

Well, that post mentions what I'm meaning, but I'm pretty sure there was a picture in the post I remember seeing.
I think I remember him saying he used a pencil to do the marking too, but pencil doesn't show up for me.

And if a pencil isnt working, use a mechanical pencil not a wood pencil, or use a Sharpie with an Ultra Fine tip.
