Warded Master lock help

Postby Shyfted » 20 Apr 2011 19:17

So I got a whole bunch of master padlocks recently (some warded, some regular). I also have a set of warded lock picks. As far as i know these picks should be able to open all master warded locks. I have only been successful in opening one of the 4 with these picks. Would I be doing something wrong? Should I be using more force? (I didnt try too hard because i dont want my picks to snap). Is there another method I can use to pick warded locks?

You should be able to feel the spring resistance when turning, if not then you'll need to feel around a bit for the latch. If you're on the latch and it isn't opening then yes, a bit more force but don't overdo it... you might want to depress the shackle to release some tension to make it easier if it's really stiff.

This may (or may not?) sound obvious... but the warded picks shouldn't require any more force than would be required to turn the key.

I have a warded master lock padlock that doesn't open instantly with the pick I have. There are actually 2 parts of the mechanism that need to be tripped (I'm guessing each bolt for both ends of the shackle) in the lock with the pick. Insert your pick in and try turning it at different depths to see if this is the case with your lock.
