Entrance Door Knob - SFIC recommendations

I need to replace the entrance door passage knobs.
Can you guys recommend a make/manuf. of a entrance door knob that will accept SFIC (best cores which I have in my stash).
I'm only coming up with Arrow, Falcon, and Corbin and a quick google is around $250+ for these.

Does ~deesigner~ manuf. (checked baldwin) - offer a great finish knob with replaceable core (so I can use a SFIC, etc).

Not sure what the question is here. Does Balwin offer a SFIC option? Yes you would buy a motise cylinder to match your chosen finish, in SFIC ( less core)

LFIC or SFIC hardware is especially expensive because it is usually considered Grade 1 ANSI specifications, therefore the price is going to be significantly more.

Yes there are other after market brands like USCAN, LSDA, Cal-Royal etc, but many are priced competitively to the name brand hardware.

If customers want it, I will provide it, but I prefer to recommend against it because of the hardware availability issues (not too many retailers maintain inventory). In a pinch, most people will install a non-IC core hardware product, because it is more readily available and often less expensive.

This is for residential.

Door are not using Mortise locks.

As *branded* as Baldwin is, I do feel their doorknob finishes are nice.
And to boot a lifetime warranty - a testament in which I have used once.

So just a traditional passage doorknob. Pref. SFIC since I have keys and cores.
Otherwise, regular passage doorknobs it is.

This seems to be new for them, traditionally Baldwin, as sold at the big box stores, has always been Schlage SC1 keyway, but now, as you said, it is in fact Kwikset Smartkey.

Check out Arrow, they have a grade 2 IC knob lock line, I believe it is the "MK" series, which you can pick up for about $90.00. Medium grade commercial.

+1 for the recommendation for Arrow... Since this is a house they will work just fine -- Grade 2 locks are commonly found in light commercial buildings and function for many years with few problems unless they are attacked by vandals...

Arrow Grade 2 hardware is available in many styles and finishes and can be ordered for SFIC...

I've ordered about a half-dozen of those. They are Arrow RK11 locks, Grade 2 I believe, and they're very well built. At even double that price, I don't think you'll find anything higher quality.

That is a good site, I have ordered numerous I-Cores and housings from them.

Glad someone else can vouch for them too...I've done a number of orders and they've all gone through perfectly--and they ship fast! I've never ordered cores from them, but I've ordered a bunch of different locks.

If you do go with those, note that the backset is not adjustable as they're commercial-grade locks. If they're for residential use, you are most likely a 2-3/8" backset, but double-check to make sure. I imagine they ship 2-3/4" by default, but I've just added "Please send with 2-3/8" backset" to the order notes when I've needed it and that's what they've given me.

If you like, I can put up better pictures of the locks and the boxes (which show the model, etc.--like I said, these are made by Arrow--that alone should be an indication that they are of good quality)...we are using a bunch in a small library and they've been very durable. Even the ones on exterior doors, which get the heaviest use and are subjected to pretty bad weather are still in great shape.

Depends on the grade -- If he is referring to Grade 1 locksets that is actually a good price...
