Silka SBB vs Chrysler Intrepid

Postby firetech » 7 May 2011 22:34

Just looking for a little insight. I bought a BonaFide Silka SBB programmer, I was told by the Mfg it will do all of my vehicles ..1999 Ford Ranger (PATS) 2006 Dodge magnum (CAN bus I believe) and my 2003 chrysler Intrepid(Thought it was PCI but now I am wondering if it is a CAN bus). The first two worked flawlessly, he Intrepid not so much. When I plug into the OBD II port the dash goes dead and the ODO reads No Bus. Apparently the tool is puling down the whole bus. The tool just shows ECU not found. I have gone back to the Mfg, they swear up and down it will do this car however they can't explain what is happening. Silca is very hard to get ahold of and when you do they are really up on european and Japanese cars but the Chryslers seen to have them stumped. They offered to ake it back however I would rather keep it and work around the issue if possible. My question to you folks is......... will this tool actually program the keys for this car and if so do I need some sort of adapter. If it simply will not work I will take it to someone with the proper tool and have it done. Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tech support has been less than stellar, I decided to just go ahead and up date the software via the silca updater. Now I have to sort out why the tool isn't linking up via the com port on my computer. Technology..... isn't it fantastic. You seem to know something about this topic....... Will this tool do this vehicle or am I wasting my time trying to make it work??

I checked Silca Key Programs to see what it says about your car.
Its strage...
There was no Intrepid under Chrysler, found one under Dodge tho.
It should be programmable, even SBB has an option for it. But when I looked over the manual there were all sorts of different procedures for different models, but no Intrepid. (alltho the program linked directly to the chrysler page).
I´ve had one or two cars where the manual and SBB both said you can program them, but still "no ecu found".
I know how hard it is to get support from Silca. Even the authorised dealers can not get good answers from them if there is a bug in software or some combination of their procucts don´t match. (the new yellow EHS2 don´t allways co-operate with RW3)
Good luck to you, I will upgrade my stuff to JMA eventually when I stop getting poorer...

According to my contact at Dodge/Chrysler the LHS/Concorde/Intrepid/300M etc etc were all the same from about 1999 through 2003/2004. The SBB tool lists most of these cars as being able to be done upto 2002, and 2004 on others, and as I said this was news to my Chrysler buddy as he says they are virtually identical under the skin and that the differences lay mostly in trim and option levels. I may have to wimp out and take it to the dealer. According to my friend the way it is behaving suggests the tool is connecting via the wrong pins and when the dash goes nuts and displays No Bus it is because the tool is shorting out the communication bus which could start blowing modules. Thanks for the input guys, it is much appreciated.
