Whitco MK II style lock

Postby minifhncc » 14 Jun 2011 20:21

Hello,

I have a lock like this one: http://www.locksgalore.com.au//shop_ima ... 9b998d.jpg

Except mine has 5 holes at the top (which have been sealed off by flat circular metals). I assume they somehow open, and can be used to change the locks.

How would one change these types of locks?

Thanks

By the way, the brand of my lock is Norton. It's an aftermarket one.

Thanks again

My guess is that you could buy plug followers that are cut into pieces.

And that you remove the middle bit etc and then insert piece by piece and then push the barrel out. Would this be correct? And if so, where could I get such a thing?

Thanks again!

Good idea! Just slice a wooden dowel in pieces

Um, are you being serious? What would be the 'proper' way?

Also, how would you get the middle bit off (the thing the turns)?

Thanks again

Yes, I'm serious: a wooden dowel, sliced in pieces of the proper length, should work.

I don't know if a locksmith has dedicated tools for that task, but a quick search with "euro repin" finds many useful posts, for example this is a very good one.

Cheers :)

I like this guide. HERE

It should help, and you shouldn't loose any of the top pins/springs aswell.
