Questions about selling depth and spacer keys

Ok, so I plan on eventually setting up an online storefront to sell depth and spacer keys for some of the more common, non-restricted keyway blanks.
I was wondering, though, whether or not I'd encounter legal problems for selling such a thing.

Would I need copyright permissions to use non-restricted blanks in such a manner? Is the only fair-use application of blanks duplication/first key?

good point. I just figured someone here would have known. I didn't really weigh how shifty it is to ask the internet a "serious" question when I made the OP.

I figured that but I have seen so much bad advice given over the years on the net that I just try to end it ASAP.

This is a GREAT place to ask opinions about many topics and receive expert advice about locks etcetera. Nevertheless, it is always important to remember you do not know whom you are asking the question.

I would not hesitate to ask any locksmith related question here because there are so many knowledgeable people here that a BS reply would be called out. However, I would not ask how to configure a mission critical server here because this is not an IT oriented board. (I could receive a perfect answer but I would not take the chance.)

That said, I would say that by opening a site dedicated to depth and spacing keys you -may- be opening yourself up to legal complications if you don't first do your homework and find out what places deem these as being illegal and/or restricted items and then stating on your website that you will not ship to those places. You would not need copyright permissions to sell non-restricted keys.
