it would be really interesting if someone could attempt to duplicate this...
tubular locks like this are used extensively on drink vending machines...
does coke know? does ACE know?
I can just see the headlines: coke machines broken into with toilet paper rolls!.....
Oh look! it's 2016!

it does say ACE II on the outside, that's how i know what it is. i don't remember seeing the number of pins printed on the outside, but there was a sequence of 3 letters followed by 3 numbers. i counted the pins. i've just bought a digital camera off ebay so i'll be able to post pics of this as soon as i recieve it and get everything set up.

Stocks Manufacturing makes the Stock Locks - which are supposed to be secure high-end locks:
Stocks Manufacturing - Stocks Locks
Their U-locks are round key locks so I would be very interested to know if anyone has picked a Stocks U-lock?
Their website claims they aren't susceptible to the pen picking method.. (though it sounds like they never tried?!)
I have searched the internet and nobody seems to have picked a Stock Lock _yet_ but many are suggesting them as a more secure Kryptonite lock replacement. If you have picked one - especially if using a pen or cardboard tube then please post.

I own one of these locks and I think that opening it with a pen barrel would be much more difficult. The shackle puts significant pressure on the lock mechanism which requires the leverage of the key to turn it. Also the tubular cylinder is a vending machine grade one(American Lock Company on the key).
Comments / Experiences?
Thanks!

If it is a tubular lock with the round key, then it would be best not to trust it, whoever the manufacturer is or whatever they say. There are other choices. Why would you take the risk?

Well, I just bought it mid-September, it is now used and the company claims it is secure. If I hear of people who picked this lock and how then it substantiates my claim in returning the lock to Stocks.. Or I might even be able to pick it and return it to them as proof.
All the pens I've tried won't fit the lock, but there must be a piece of plastic pipe or something that does - just has to have the right strength, pliability and torque characteristics so I can give it a try. I haven't found anything suitable yet, so I 'm looking for outside ideas of commonly available plastic tubular objects..
The fact that someone talented can pick it with a tubular pick doesn't worry me - the idea that I could pick it with the right piece of plastic tube does - but I digress..

When the pen barrel was too small for the lock, I successfully opened a tubular lock (not Stocks though) with the cap of the same pen. The cap had a larger diameter and thinner walls. You could try that. Others have suggested warming the plastic with a match or lighter flame so that it stretches a bit.
(In order to use the pen cap, I cut off the projecting plastic clip and trimmed it down a bit to the same radius as the rest of the cap.)

Anybody got a video of someone manually picking a tubular? I've been trying for months and I still can't get one.

After my KryptoLok eventually yielded to the only pen in the house of the proper diameter, I tried the pen on my Pyramid U-lock. The bike store that sold it to me had recomended it as harder to cut to cut through and more secure due to it locking at both ends of the U. Though I am sure it is still subject to the other vulnerablities of other U-locks, as well as regular tubular picks, I got nowhere with a pen. Possibly due to a recent cleaning/lubricating, the pins were much looser and the pen just pushed them down without them biting the least bit into the plastic. I have never seen another of these locks, however. I might not use it on a really expensive bike, but still consider this one to be more effort to get through than my bike is worth.
