Re: 2600 meeting

Those might be some new kids on the block, but the 303 2600 meeting takes place at 16th and Tremont (inside Starbucks if it's cold) on the first Saturday of each month, at 2pm sharp, where and when it's been meeting for the past 15 years. Trust me. :)

This is, ironically, the "official" Colorado 2600 meeting (not endorsed by Emmanuel because we decided to get together at a time and place more convenient to all, and he didn't like that).

I thought that Parker & Arapahoe location looked familiar...the "founder" of the newbie 2600 meeting came onto a local mailing list last year bragging about how he was starting a new group and putting down the two already-established Colorado 2600 groups even though he had never been to either meeting (the much older 303 meeting in Denver, and the now defunct 720 meeting in Boulder). He was flamed mercilessly for about 2 solid months before he left.

Honestly, if that south location is easier for people to get to, have at it. I just wanted to throw out the history of CO's 2600 meetings since your computer security friends didn't seem to know about them. But if you read old hacker zines from established groups, like CoTNO, TYM, several of the Phrack writers, attrition.org, and members of the PLA, you'll find that the vast majority of those people were here for the Saturday 2600 meetings (some still are, many have moved out of state). Anyone who tells you the scene is being represented at Parker & Arapahoe is mistaken. :)

Hello, all. I'm new to the board, and new to lockpicking, but have been going crazy cutting up hacksaw blades. Currently have a set of 11 picks that I consider made well enough to be usable (not saying that I know *how* to use them all :-)

I'm in Longmont. If anyone is still considering a get-together, please add me to the list of those who would be interested. I'm more of a show-me-how learner. It's all well and good to read about techniques online, but I feel like the locks that I have picked thus far have been more from dumb luck rather than any skill, and I feel like I must be doing something wrong.

well if this isn't resurrecting an old thread, I am located in Ft Collins and looking for people who might be able to guide me in this new hobby of mine.

Thanks
