Help me find the name of a tool I once saw...

Postby monkeE » 25 Aug 2011 16:40

Hi,

I saw a video of a guy picking an ABUS with mushroom pins once (maybe 4 years ago). The tool he used looked like a 6 legged octopus that he rotated knobs to presumably raise and lower the 6 pin heights of the imitation key he had in the lock.

Does anyone know what this tool is called? I can't find any references to it, but I also don't really know how to search for it.

The tool required different blades for each different keyway of course.

I think what you're describing is a Sputnik decoder.

Thank you so much. This was bugging me, and as soon as I saw the first letter of your reply, I knew it was correct...

Does anyone know where to get one?

Squelchtone,
You shouldn't need one. With your talents, Abus shouldn't be that hard for you to pick standard-style.
