Hello,
I just received the MPXS-20 pick set from Southord.com outlet. The "slightly blemished" is exaggerated for sure. I think maybe the original box may have been damaged or something because the picks were in their leather case and sealed in a plastic bag looking like they had never been opened. There was not one mark or blemish or anything. These picks are pristine. The set goes for $48 and I paid $32. They also threw in the book that is advertised with the $16 starter set "Easy Pickings" at no additional charge.
I highly recommend buying from Southord Outlet!
I live in the US and I was concerned about buying standard vs slim-line and after reading on this site I decided to go with standard.
The standard picks are way smaller than I imagined they would be. I was looking for actual measurements of standard picks when I was making my own from drain snake metal (great material to use in my opinion, 26 feet for $6 at Home Depot.) but the template I found was only for slim-line. I will create a standard template from the picks I received and post it on here.
I am using a standard ruler to measure so these measurements are very close but not exact.
The standard small hook SP-09 is 118mm long and has an 8mm wide handle.
The neck tapers from 2mm at the tip to 4mm where the neck meets the handle.
The distance from the table to the part of the tip that lifts the pin is 7mm.
The thickness of the pick is 1mm or less.
II did a search and didn't find anything newer than 2009 and didn't want to reply to an old thread. Should I have?
Anyway I hope this helps someone.
Thanks for hosting such a great website!
