Circlip pliers for Euro cylinders

Postby minifhncc » 9 Sep 2011 4:04

Hello,

I'm looking at repinning a euro cylinder at the moment and so I'm looking for some suitable circlip pliers.

The lock is like this one: http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00vB ... A60PB-.jpg

What would be some suitable circlip pliers. Obviously it should be quite thin so it fits between the gap... But it's hard to tell which pliers would fit. Could someone please link me to some good circlip pliers for this sort, or give me an alternative way to remove them?

Thanks

Procedure wise, here's a nice post from back in the day:

viewtopic.php?t=5199

The poster does not mention which pliers he used, but if you use the Search function and look for repinning euro or euro circlip it should yield some answers. Google can also search this forum, just type in "euro circlip site:lockpicking101.com" (without the "" quotes)

Here's some more useful documents:
viewtopic.php?t=12441
viewtopic.php?p=316286

Pliers catalog:
http://www.americanring.net/pdf/Plies_T ... cators.pdf

or if none of these have the answer, someone should be along soon enough to help you out,

Those don't contain anything about the type of circlip pliers used... (and yes, I've come across them before)

I don't know the lock in question, but is it for removing a hardened steel spring clip, or replacing a soft steel ring?
I have not seen a tool for removing a circlip of this kind/placement, and would be very surprised to see one. Two screwdrivers/wiper-inserts should do the job

I am looking for a tool to replace(EKS-cylinder), and have ordered this from keymam http://keymam.com/product_view.asp?pid=2108

I just borrowed a similar tool. However, it was designed to crimp rings of 1.4mm thickness, while I need for 0.8mm thickness.

If the ordered tool does not fit, I will either modify or make one myself.

Good luck

Souber tools in UK ,make a circlip removal tool for euro cylinders and a plier set for refitting a new circlip.
Paul Souber does not sell direct, but through locksmiths wholesalers only,
try www.sks.co.uk.
