What do you carry your picks in ? Homemade or storebougt?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

What do you carry your picks in ? Homemade or storebougt?

Postby dirtymoney » 26 Sep 2011 16:52

I wanna see pics.

I recently got into the hobby & bought 5 individual basic lockpicks & four tension wrenches & needed a simple case for them. Something that I could easily carry in a pocket.

Took an old sharpie "professional" marker I had laying around, cut off the felt tip part, pulled out the ink-fibrous stuff inside the main body ....and bam! Simple little portable case for my lockpicks (5) & a couple of tension wrenches (4).

Note: the marker was clean inside. It had a plastic liner that held the ink-soaked fibrous stuff that could be pulled out with needlenose pliers.

Eventually I wanna get something like this...

...so I can squeeze my snapgun in there after slight modification of the pockets.

Sorry for the long post.

anyway... I want to see what kinds of cases you guys use. Either storebought or homemade. I am thinking about making a tool roll/wrap case also.

here is another pic with the tension wrenches in there as well.

And yes.. they fit with the cap on. The smaller wrenches tend to fall into the bottom of the case & my long one sticks out the top. Its all a somewhat tight fit.

Sorry, i am new here & didnt see an option for editing my original post.

That Sharpie idea is brilliant. The only potential flaw I can see with carrying that in your pocket is that someone might mistakenly think you're very happy to see them. :D

Right now, I carry my picks in a pink pouch my wife gave me. The advantage of carrying something that looks like it contains feminine products is that no one tries to see what's in it when I leave it laying out on the dining room table or on my desk.

I thought this was an awesome idea, so I stole it

Works with just the chisel tip sharpies too. I don't know about you, but I still had a little ink left in the marker when I took the lining out. So I just poured in a little rubbing alcohol, shook it all about, and that seemed to clear it out. Just if anyone else tries this.

Keep mine in a Saddleback Leather small wallet. They fit very tight into the bottom, beneath the cash, an canot be discovered short of taking all the money out and peering in with a light.

That being said, I like the sharpie idea!

I have mine in the case they were packaged with. It's a nice leather case that comes with southord sets from lockpickshop.com. Tempted to make one of those sharpie cases though
