Masterlock Combination

Postby commadore » 30 Sep 2011 5:28

I have a Masterlock Combination lock i have had for a while from my highschool days, trying to shim it but no success? i even tried both shackles at the same time but my shims just bend. Im using real shims bought from southord by the way, any tips?

Watch the many you tube videos for tips.

When you insert the shims, insert them down the shackle hole from the front of the lock looking at the dial and as you set them deeper, rotate them towards the inside of the shackle to push the locking tab out of the way.

Likewise, post a photo of where you are sticking the shims, this will also let us look at the lock and see if it is one that can be shimmed, maybe there's something unique about this particular Master... does it actually say Master? is it a Dudley? is it generic?

Thanks

it is a masterlock combo, seems like a standard one, no key whole in the back. ill find a serial or model number if i can but ill try the angled shim advice first.

And if i am violating certain rules for asking this i can either provide proof its mine or lock the thread. Past hour i been reading all the locked threads of people with low posts asking how to open cars and such and got a kick out of it!

yep.. cars are off limits and safes are off limits.

Also bypassing of locks that actually secure something of value is off limits. and if someone new posts a photo of a washing machine or soda machine or car wash money machine, then that sets off a lot of bells and we act accordingly.

Your Master padlock used to secure high school lockers, is not exactly a high security padlock, and it is already so widely covered on youtube and other websites. Telling you not to talk about it is like closing the barn door after the horse already got out.

Dont worry, if you ever ask about something controversial, we'll move it or edit it first before any sort of user banning is even considered.

Yeah, those wacky new posters who provide really really bad extreme close ups of the LOCKS ONLY on a vending/soda/laundry machine they claim they just purchased without a key... Weak !

I dunno, I think people would stroke out and die if a new poster posted a picture of such a machine on a pallet in the middle of a garage or storage room somewhere... You know, a more likely photo which actually fits the described scenario -- not many people buy machines that are still in place and in use that don't get the keys to the machines included with purchase...
