back from USA with some locks ^_^

Postby andrex66 » 5 Oct 2011 12:50

Hello mates, back to Italy from Florida, where I met one of the niciest guys I've ever seen.
He is a professional locksmith, and he was so kind to give me one "standard" lock (the one you find on handles and door knob,i think Kwickset or Schlage) and
- one Medeco keymark X4 with key
- one Schlage (the one with the blue key for reset,I don't know the model,SecureKey?) with keys
- one Schlage Primus (great!), no key

and 3 HPC picks plus a tension wrench.

here are the locks (the photo is just to show that I own them and I'm not trying to pick someone else's house):

So far I managed to pick the Medeco (not too difficult, apart from the "push inside thing") and moved to Schlage Primus
Argh!
Picked the top pins, sidebar engage, finger pins laugh back at me! I tried to made a pick (like a thin dimple pick) to manipulate them, but no luck so far...
Could someone give me some pointer about how the pick for finger pins should be made? I fear mine is too wide so I can't lift pins properly,or I can't recognize if they're set.
I know it's surely advanced forum stuff and obviously I can't login there yet, but I feel like having a brand new bike in the garage and having to wait for the driving license to arrive.

Apologies for my english!
Thank you all,and have fun.

Hello Femurat, and thank you for replaying!

>I envy you for your recent trip

Eh, I love USA, been there 4 times, twice in Florida, lovely places there.

>medeco are not advanced, try a little search, there's a ton of info here...

tried searching, nothing relevant came up. I see that Schlage Primus is under "advanced locks"-> "high security locks", so I guess I can't access to those infos :|

Please remember that Medeco Original/Biaxial/M3 is not the same technology as Medeco Keymark. Keymark does not use the angled keys or a sidebar.

Thanks

Very nice! Yeah the new keymark x4 just has the m3 mechanism and keycontrol. I have a mortise and SFIC but that KIK cylinder is very nice!

You should be able to use a slimline hook or diamond for the sidepins for the primus. After you do the side pins it's just like a regular Schlage pin tumbler

The other Schlage with the blue key is a "SecureKey" there are many threads about that.

Good luck! Nice stuff!!
