Applying to be a locksmith...again

If you haven't read my previous post about applying to be a locksmith its ok, i will update you. I took all the advice users gave me but i am not having any luck. I sent this email to 3 locksmiths in my area (theres still alot more) but i have had no luck, two said they werent hiring and the other said he has a family run business that does not hire outside people : both circumstances i understand but please advise me on how i can either word this better or anything else i can do. Heres this email i sent to all 3 locksmith businesses.

Hi, My name is ************ and i live in ***********. I am currently looking for an locksmith to take me on as an apprentice. Some of my personal skills include being mechanically inclined and very good attention to detail. I have a great interest in locks and how they work. I am a well mannered person and a very dedicated hard worker. Please consider my application and i do hope to hear from you soon. I have attached my resume to this email. Thanks!

So should i continue to email lockmsiths or does that seem lazy? Should i word this better in my head and personally go to locksmiths and talk to them? I am not the greatest at socialism (talking to people) and i just believe i would freeze up but if i was prepared i would be okay so i need some in depth advice. Pease lp101 you have helped me before, i know you will help me again.

For me locksmithing will not be all about the money, yes i would like to earn a good living but at the same time it seems from my point of view like a very enjoyable career. You know how when your a kid you say oh i want to be a firefighter, i want to be a police officer, well for the past 2 years i have been researching and researching and looking up information and this right now deffinetaly seems like a really enjoyable career. I would enjoy doing it and would almost be weird being paid for it because it interests me so much, i mean those careers where its a very personable hobby but you almost cant believe your getting paid for it. Anyways enough of my blabbering, but please advise me.

I think it best to go in person. I would dress casual professional, no need to overdress in a suit. When talking be honest and try to maintain eye contact and an upright posture. Be yourself and don't volunteer too much personal information. If they ask about something answer, but don't elaborate too much. Obviously always thank them for their time, leave a resume and follow up occasionally with a phone call. If it is anything like our shop Monday and Friday are super busy; avoid those days. Best time I would guess is late morning early afternoon on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

Go in and buy a cheap padlock talk to the owner tell them you would love to get into the trade , if you are in school see if you can get a weeks work experience through the school where the shop doesnt have to pay. dont forget to shake their hand this is one of the most important thing when dealing with a new contact you are selling yourself after all so have a wash first

For what it's worth,

I got my apprenticeship by sending my former boss an email. I never expected a call back, but got one. Been in the business ever since and absolutely do not regret it. Now that I look back, perhaps a formal, in person introduction might have been better but, from my own anecdotal experience, emails can produce results.

I sent an email to a local locksmith but he said he was not hiring at the time, locksmiths seem so cold, i thanked him for responding and then asked him if i could come in and talk to him about how he got into the trade, but no response, i plan on going in person to talk some ithers.
